
Dr Bong Chih How
HRD Corp Accredited Trainer | Lecturer at UNIMAS, Faculty of Computer Science and Information Technology
Dr Bong Chih How has been actively involved in training, lecturing, consulting and software development for 17 years in enriching and empowering local talents’ career success. He is also an HRD Corp Malaysia Accredited Trainer.
He regularly conducts training and consultation for many organisations, and these organisations have benefited tremendously from his expertise. Dr Bong has conducted technical training in basic and advanced Excel, data analytics and Scilab. On June 18, he conducted a first-ever data analytics training for Sabah State Government in Kota Kinabalu to empower the ICT employees to appreciate data-driven organisation.
Dr Bong is also a senior lecturer in the Faculty of Computer Science and Information Technology at the University Malaysia of Sarawak. He has taught many undergraduates and postgraduates computer science courses on database technology and design, software development, programming, networking, computer architecture, data mining and knowledge management. He has supervised 4 Master’s students and 4 PhD students. To date, he has seven search grants and published 30 research articles. Prior to becoming an academician, he worked as a software developer and software analyst.
He demonstrated a history of working with various software development projects: natural language processing, data mining, information system, website and e-commerce. Dr Bong is a strong education professional with a PhD focused on Natural Language Processing and a Master’s focused in Artificial Intelligent from the University of Colorado, Boulder.
Dr Bong’s main interests are artificial intelligence, natural language processing, data science and machine learning. He has won several invention and innovation awards from Malaysia, Korea and UK. He is also actively engaged in many information technologies-related consultation projects where he has helped companies to manage data.
